1) Configuring your Local Area Network.
Please note that this walkthrough assumes you are using the default settings on your router.
1. First, we need to configure the IP address of your network card.
  (a) In Windows XP, open Control Panel/Network Connection/. Right click on "Local Area Network", and click properties. Click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and click properties. Make sure the IP address is assigned by the server (Dynamically Assigned)
  (b) In Windows 9x/Me/2000, open Control Panel/Network. Click on the TCP/IP that is bound to your network card, and click properties. Make sure the IP address is assigned by the server (Dynamically Assigned)
2. Set up any other computers on your network with the same settings.

2) Setting up your router.
These instructions apply to most LinkSys routers, however the locations of certain options will vary with the version of the firmware you're running. The same options will be there, but may be under a different tab.
1. You can configure the router using your web browser. Open a browser, and go to the following URL: http://192.168.1.1.
2. You will be prompted for a username and a password. Leave the username field empty and type admin for the password.
3. You should now see the router configuration page. Click for Screenshot.(opens in new window)
4. Verify the option to "Obtain an IP Address Automatically" is checked.
5. Set the the connection type to PPPoE. When this is set, you will then be able to enter your username and password.
6. Enter your username name and password in the fields provided.
7. Check the "Keep Alive" option, and set the redial period for 45 seconds.
8. Click apply.
