27
February 2010
Another detailed list of BCATP trainers with
RAF serials, RCAF R7447 to
R9703. Battles and more Ansons.
5
February 2010
Major
update to RCAF trainers 151 to 200.
Used data collected over several years. Also updated photo links
on this page.
6
January 2010
Starting the new year with another list of
Canadair Sabres, RCAF 19201
to 19250, including the first Canadair built Sabres for the USAF.
31
December 2009
Added another
detailed list of Canadian built
Anson IIs, RCAF 11301 to 11350.
Time to take another break from Ansons, I think.
18
December 2009
Added another detailed list of Canadian built
Anson IIs, RCAF 11250 to
11300.
13
December 2009
Corrected a
minor typo concerning Dakota
KN281. Added a note about the apparent end of the CU-161 in Canadian service.
11
December 2009
Added a detailed list for the last
Canadian built Bolingbrokes, RCAF
9150 to 9201. These low serial numbers were from an order
canceled in 1942, but later re-instated, resulting in the last
Bolingbrokes to be delivered from Fairchild Canada. There were
several uncompleted airframes scrapped at Fairchild after the war, and
I would like to hear from anybody who knows what serial numbers may
have been assigned to these (if any).
29
November 2009
Another detailed list of UK built
Ansons, RCAF 6250 to 6299.
21
November 2009
Back to the Ansons. This will be my life
work, I'm afraid. Added a detailed list for UK built Ansons RCAF 6200 to 6249.
7
November 2009
Nibbling away at the prewar flying club
aircraft, adding a detailed list for
CF-ABY to CF-CCK. Most of the information comes from the CAHS
lists of early Canadian civil registered aircraft.
8
October 2009
Work keeps getting in the way of the
important stuff, but I finally managed to add a new detailed list for
the rest of the cold war trainers with US serials: Texans, Mitchells, and T-Birds.
20
September 2009
Added a detailed list for RCAF Hudsons BW301 to BW600.
12
September 2009
Updated
information, and corrected registration typo, on Tiger Moth CF-BNF on
one of my civil aircraft lists.
The error was pointed out by the current owner of the aircraft, which
is under restoration in California. Also updated the links to the
photos, they should work for another few months.
5
September 2009
Added the next detailed list of BCATP
aircraft, with Oxfords and Harvards, RCAF BM801 to BW300. I
have found very little information on the RCAF Oxfords.
27
August 2009
Added the next detailed list for RCAF
Harvards, AJ909 to AJ959.
22
August 2009
Updated the detailed list for Canadian Forces CC-130s.
Most recent information on existing aircraft came from the usual
Internet sources, plus e-mails from several readers. First
information on the new CC-103Js was kindly provided by Canadian
researcher and author Jeff Rankin-Lowe.
8
August 2009
Added the next list of RAF style serial
numbers, RCAF R4046 to R7446,
mostly Battles.
21
July 2009
Updated the post Integration page with preliminary
information on the additional King Airs leased this summer. Still
waiting for photographic confirmation of serial number marked on these.
Also updated the Canadian Forces CF-104D page,
with a bit more information on surviving aircraft, and a photo link
that works (for now).
19
July 2009
Added the next detailed list of Canadair
Sabres, RCAF 19151 to 19200.
Have you bought Larry
Milberry's book yet?
16
July 2009
I've been collecting Sabre info for
years now. It is far from complete, but I needed a break from
Ansons, so here is the detailed page for the first Canadair Sabres, RCAF 19101 to 19150.
Information from all the usual sources, plus Larry Milberry's superb
book on The Canadair Sabre. This book is still available from Canav
Books, and you should buy
it right now.
15
July 2009
Added a detailed list of Canadian built
Ansons, RCAF 11181 to 11249.
I've had enough of Ansons for awhile, might try something else next.
For those of you who send me corrections and additions, they are
welcome, and they do get entered in my database. For now, I'm
spending time on new detailed lists, and will get around to updating
existing pages sometime in the future. I've bought a book on PHP,
maybe this will allow more timely updates - once I figure it all out.
5
July 2009
Added another detailed list of Bolingbrokes, RCAF 9100 to 9149.
26
June 2009
Added another detailed list of UK built
Ansons, RCAF 6150 to 6199.
10
June 2009
First detailed list added for Cold War trainers with US serials, all
Texans (not Harvards, strictly speaking).
20
May 2009
A new detailed list of American built
Harvards, AJ791 to AJ908.
4
May 2009
Another detailed list of RAF style serials,
mostly BCATP plus one Spitfire, RCAF P6734 to R4043.
14
April 2009
As
promised, the CH-147 detailed list has
been updated with information on the previous identities of the "new"
Chinooks at Kandahar.
12
April 2009
Added a detailed list for RCAF 11101 to 11163.
This includes the last two batches of RCAF Liberators, most of which
went straight into storage in 1945, and the RCAF Cosmopolitans.
10
April 2009
Added the next detailed batch of Bolingbrokes,
RCAF 9050 to 9099.
5
April 2009
Added another batch of Ansons from the early
days of the BCATP, RCAF 6100 to
6149.
23
March 2009
Added the first detailed list for US serial
numbered aircraft: P-40s, PT-27, and some
gliders.
A kind and well informed reader has just sent me some detailed
information on the former identities of the second hand Chinooks now in
use in Afghanistan. Some of them are over 40 years old!
Details coming to my web pages soon.
21
March 2009
Added a detailed list with more BCATP
trainers: Ansons, Battles and Hampdens, RCAF N9905 to P6732.
8
March 2009
Some
updates on the new aircraft being operated in Afghanistan, from
information provided by several readers and from DND press releases and
other documents. Updates to the CH-147
detailed list, the CU-161 detailed
list, and some preliminary information on CU-170 serials on the post integration main page.
5
March 2009
Added the next detailed list of Canadian
built Cornells, RCAF 10850 to
10907.
19
February 2009
Added another detailed list of Cornells, RCAF 10800 to 10849.
10
February 2009
Taking a break from the Ansons, added a
detailed list for RCAF 9000 to
9049. This includes the first Bolingbroke Mk. IVs, with No. 8
(BR) Squadron. Many of these aircraft were rushed to the
west coast after Pearl Harbour, leaving a trail of Category A, B and C
prangs from coast to coast.
3
February 2009
Continuing through the Ansons, with RCAF 6050 to 6099.
Between working for a living and shoveling my driveway, I don't have
much time for the web pages these days.
13
January 2009
A new
format for the US serial numbers with the
RCAF/CF page, getting ready to add some detailed information on
these aircraft. Still trying to track down the Kiowa/Bell 206
training aid at Borden with a fake CH-136 serial - anybody have any
information on this?
9
January 2009
Added another detailed list of Ansons, RCAF N9640 to N9901.
3
January 2009
The first
updates of the New Year add some preliminary information on the leased
helicopters being used in Afghanistan. The CH-147Ds are on the Canadian Armed Forces page, while the Mi-8Ts
are on the civil registered
page.
27
December 2008
Updated the
detailed list of Canadian
Forces CF-101s. Most of the additional info came from
Griffin's second book, plus e-mails from readers.
21
December 2008
Added the next detailed list of Cornells, RCAF 10750 to 10799.
Now we are off to Trenton, to spend Christmas under the approach
path. My wife thinks we are visiting relatives.
14
December 2008
Added the next detailed list for Cornells, RCAF 10700 to 10749.
Updated the
Post Integration page, to add the CU-170
Heron. Still looking for serial numbers (or registrations?) of
all the airframes with the new Air Wing in Kandahar: Griffons,
Chinooks,
Herons and Mi-8Ts.
7
December 3008
Added another detailed list of Ansons, all
started as Mk. Is, RCAF 6000 to
6049.
Corrected
some typos in the list of RAF owned
aircraft, up to P1000. These were spotted by my hard
working team of proofreaders at RAF Commands Forum.
20
November 2008
Added another detailed list of Tiger Moths, RCAF 5950 to 5999. Now,
back to the Ansons.
17
November 2008
Updated the
CF serials numbers page to include the
first - and still unconfirmed - information on the CH-148 Cyclone
serials. This is based on published reports of the three digit
code carried by the first aircraft on its first flight this week (801),
and assumes that this is the 'last three' of the full CF serial
(148801).
I've finished rebuilding the database after my August hard drive crash,
and I'm back to creating new pages. Look for more Tigermoth and
Anson pages in the next few weeks.
22
September 2008
Updated the
list of civil
registered aircraft operated, but not owned, by the Canadian military.
Some new additions, plus corrections pointed out by several readers,
including Johann Visschedijk from 1000aircraft.com.
15 August 2008
Added another batch of Tiger Moths, RCAF 5900 to 5949.
25 July 2008
Added another batch of RAF style
serials, RCAF N9353 to N9615,
mostly Ansons. Only about 4,000 more Ansons to go...
9 July 2008
Added some more Fleet built Cornells, RCAF 10650 to 10699.
Service information on these aircraft is very scarce.
20 June 2008
Added the next detailed list for BCATP Tiger Moths, RCAF 5850 to 5899.
20 June 2008
Added the next detailed list for RAF
serialized aircraft in the RCAF, N1078 to N5041, mostly
Ansons, plus a few oddballs.
11 June 2008
Continued
to update detailed lists of early RCAF aircraft, with a revised detailed list for RCAF 751 to
800. Also, added new information on early Canadian
military aviation to the Beginnings page.
31 May 2008
Added three detailed lists for all the CF-18s:
Single seaters part 1 and part 2, and dual seaters.
Information came from the usual published sources (like Griffin's
second serial book, and Rankin-Lowe and Cline), plus several on-line
spotter sites, government press releases and documents, and several
e-mails from readers.
18 May 2008
Added the next detailed list with RCAF
Mitchells, RCAF KH945 to KN392.
Only a handful of Mitchells left now.
1 May 2008
Added the next detailed list of Tiger Moths, RCAF 5800 to 5849. Now, back to
the Mitchell pages.
16 April 2008
Added a detailed list of RCAF aircraft with
RAF serials, FK177 to FL999, that
includes part of a very obscure batch of Mitchell Mk. Is, that "sort
of" served with the RCAF.
10 April 2008
Added another detailed list of Cornells, RCAF 10600 to 10649.
5 April 2008
For some time now I've been receiving additional information on early
RCAF multi-engine aircraft, including Bolingbrokes, Digbys and
Hudsons. Here is the first update to result from this, the detailed list for RCAF 701 to 750.
SPECIAL NOTE: I see that the Canada Aviation Museum image
bank is down for "remodeling", so all my links to their images are
currently not working. They promise to be back in the summer of
2008, with more images and new features. I can hardly wait!
Let's see, I want pictures of a Curtis Canada, a camouflaged Auster, an
RCAF yellow Hiller, a Red Knight Tutor, a target tug Hudson, a target
tug Dakota, a target tug Mitchell, ......
25 March 2008
I'm waiting for some extra information to arrive in the mail before
continuing preparing pages for the rest of the Mitchells. In the
mean time, I'm going back to fill in some gaps, starting with a
detailed list for RCAF 5300 to 5349,
Caribous and Comets.
21 March 2008
Added the next detailed list with RCAF
Mitchell Mk. IIs, HB207 to
HH560.
12 March 2008
The next list of BCATP aircraft, including
some Mk. II Mitchells, FW279
to FZ692. The Mitchell serial numbers are spread around, so
this is going to take a while.
CORRECTION: In previous pages I had interpreted the abbreviation
REMS as Reserve Equipment Maintenance Station. In my digging
through the Public Archives microfilms I have recently discovered the
order that created these units on 16 June 1945, and the correct name is
Reserve Equipment Maintenance Satellite. These were remote
detachments from the main Reserve Equipment Maintenance Units
(REMU). Existing web pages will be corrected by and by.
8 March 2008
My recent pages on the postwar Mitchell Mk. 3s have generated a lot of
e-mail from readers. Several were asking about the Mk. 2s, which
were first with the BCATP and then lingered on with the Auxiliary
Squadrons until the late 1950s. Here is the first detailed list
with Mk. 2s, FV695 to FW278.
There are several more to come.
1 March 2008
I've been saving extra information on current aircraft for some time
now, most of it has come from readers. First, a detailed list for the CT-156 Harvard II.
Also,
updates on the detailed lists for the CC-177
Globemaster and the CU-161 Sperwer.
As before, much of the the Sperwer information is tentative.
29 February 2008
Added the detailed list for the next
batch of Cornells, RCAF 10550
to 10599.
23 February 2008
Added detail list for RCAF 10497 to 10549, more
BCATP trainers.
12 February 2008
Added more post war Mitchell Mk. 3s, RCAF 5250 and up.
The Canadian Forces web page has changed the addresses of several of
the pictures referenced by my pages. I'm changing the links, and
updating the pages, as I find them. First revision is the L-19/L-182 page,
serials 16701 to 16735. Much of the new information on the
L-182s came from Larry Maloney, (WO Retired) R.C.A.S.C.
4 February 2008
Added a detailed list for post war Mitchell
Mk.3s, RCAF 5200 to 5249.
An eagle-eyed reader has pointed out that the very interesting accident
I had reported for Air Cadet glider C-FBUJ actually happened to
C-FZIQ. The Air Cadet CF gliders
page has been updated accordingly.
26 January 2006
Returned to slogging through the thousands of
BCATP trainers. Added detail list for more Tiger Moths, RCAF 5150 to 5199.
20 January 2008
I just
noticed that some data was lost when I transferred RAF owned AG100 to BJ999 to html
format, so I have corrected it.
19 January 2008
I'm slowly going crazy working through the BCATP aircraft, so I'm
taking a break by updating some of my old pages, starting with the Canadian Forces Canucks detailed page.
Note that with all the re-numbered CF aircraft I only list those that
were confirmed as re-marked (or highly probable). Other sources
will list more serials, but I need proof of actual re-marking before
the number will appear in my lists.
16 January 2008
Added the next detailed list of RAF style
serials, L5332 to N1045,
with Battles, Ansons, Beauforts and one Hampden.
12 January 2008
Added a detailed list for the C-5 and RCAF Yukons, serials 10000 and
up. The Yukon serials are still a little confusing to me, as
the note on this page indicates.
6 January 2008
Started the New Year with the next detailed
list of Tiger Moths, RCAF 5100
to 5149.
24 December 2007
Another detailed list of early RCAF Ansons, RCAF N5042 to N5352.
Work on the lists has slowed lately, as I prepare for an upcoming
multi-week contract in Hawaii. I know, I know.... It would
be better to stay here, shoveling the driveway three times a day and
working on the web pages, but duty calls.
11 December 2007
Added a detailed list for the Airbus CC-150 Polaris. Can anybody
confirm if the MRTT aircraft have actually been used as tankers yet?
9 December 2007
Added another detailed list of postwar
Expeditors, RCAF
postwar 2344 to 2382.
25 November 2007
Added a detailed list for pre-Integration
Hillers, 10261 to 10287.
The information came from Griffin's new book, Rankin-Lowe and Cline's
book, files provided by Tony Wilson in Australia, and my father's log
books.
The
research into the new page also allowed a major update to the Canadian Forces Hiller page.
Also updated the Project web page,
with some information about data sources, and completeness of my
comments, plus a few new terms and abbreviations. For a very
thorough list of RAF/RCAF abbreviations, the reader is directed to Jason
Gaudet's abbreviation list.
Also, it appears that there is some disagreement about the true
identity of the RCN Tiger Moth coded "TF*A", which I reported as
ex-RCAF 5014. I'm still looking into this, but for now consider
my comments about 5014's naval history as "possible, not confirmed".
23 November 2007
Added a detailed list for RCAF 10200 to 10257, the
last Bolingbrokes and the first Anson Mk. IV.
16 November 2007
Added the next
detailed list for Tiger Moths, RCAF
5050 to 5099.
Updated the
last Tiger Moth list, RCAF 5000
to 5049, to include the RCN history of 5014.
4 November 2007
Added the next detailed list for Tiger
Moths, RCAF 5000 to 5049.
29 October 2007
Updated two
lists for RAF owned aircraft operated by the RCAF, AA100 to AF999 and AG100 to BJ999.
Much of the new data is from Tony Wilson in Australia, and various
Internet sources, with lots more still to sort through.
19 October 2007
My detailed
list of civil registered trainers
with the Canadian Forces has been updated, to reflect the changes
from Bombardier to Kelowna Flightcraft (aka Allied Wings).
12 October 2007
Added another detailed list of Harvards,
AJ686 to AJ790.
9 October 2007
Eagle-eyed
readers at CV-Canso@yahoogroups.com, including Jeff Rankin-Lowe,
spotted a typo in my brief list
of RCAF 5000 to 9999 concerning Expeditor / Beech 18 serial 8650,
and the following batch of Cessna Cranes. This has been
corrected. Also took advantage of reworking this page to clean up
the San Diego built Cansos, 9701 to 9750.
29 September 2007
Added a detailed list for the CH-147 Chinook. There is very little
published information on these helicopters while they were in Canada,
so the page has more of their Dutch history than of their Canadian
history.
More new
UAV data on the post integration page,
including my first mention of the CU-168. It appears that the
CT-102 is the Grob 120A trainer, but I may be wrong.
25 September 2007
Added the next batch of post war Expeditors, RCAF 2305 to 2343.
Thanks to
Steve Priestly at CASR for providing information on some new (possibly
unofficial) CF Type designators, added to the
Post Integration page. If anybody knows for sure what a
CT-102 Astra is, please let me know! Also, updated my database statistics.
5
September 2007
Special message for Bruce Bidwell: Bruce,
I've tried to respond to your e-mail about 436 Squadron aircraft, but
my ISP will not allow messages to your e-mail address. I have no
idea why. Can you contact me from a different e-mail?
2
September 2007
Added a detailed list for the RCAF North Stars. Much of the
detailed information came from Larry Milberry's great book "The
Canadair North Star".
24
August 2007
Added detailed list for the next 50
Bolingbrokes, RCAF 10150 to
10199.
20
August 2007
Thanks to
Patrick Martin, for providing a photo of the serial plate on the first
CC-177, clearly identifying the manufacturer's number.
Updated the CC-177 detailed list.
15
August 2007
Some time
ago the sharp-eyed readers at RAF Commands Forum noted that some
of my Tiger Moth data appeared to be out of whack. After much
digging, I have determined that I somehow shifted the data for
Tigerschmidts 4383 to 4404 by one aircraft, when entering data from
Griffin into my database. The marvels of modern computing, I
guess. Anyway, using extra data supplied by Patrick Martin and
others, I have finally straightened the mess out. Here are
revised detailed lists for RCAF
4350 to 4399 and RCAF 4400
to 4449.
11
August 2007
Added detailed list
for the CC-177s. If anyone knows the manufacturer's numbers
for these aircraft, or if they previously had a USAF serial assigned,
please let me know.
1
August 2007
Added the last detailed list for Canadian
built Hurricanes, RCAF 5700 to
5775. The note about RAF and RCAF Mark numbers on this page
applies to most of the other Mk. XII Hurricanes on my pages.
13
July 2007
Added the next Harvard detailed list, RCAF AJ571 to AJ685.
6
July 2007
Added detailed list for RCAF K8751 to L5331, with Ansons,
Battles, Hampdens, and the first RCAF Spitfire and Walrus.
30 June 2007
Travelling for work and vacation has slowed
down the updates, but here are the Canadian Forces CH-146 Griffons, Part I and Part II.
Added the
CC-177 serials to the post integration page.
Thanks to Jeff Rankin-Lowe for posting this information on NAMAR.
9
June 2007
Added detailed list for next batch of
postwar Expeditors, RCAF
postwar 1549 to 1592. Thanks to Pat Martin for much of this
information.
28
May 2007
Added a detailed list for the RCAF Voodoos, the first batch of CF-101s.
24
May 2007
Added a detailed list for more
Bolingbrokes, RCAF 10100 to
10149. Now I'm off to Downsview, to catch the last of the
CAHS annual convention. See you there!
15
May 2007
Added two new detailed lists of Hurricanes, RCAF 5600 to 5649, and RCAF 5650 to 5699.
27
April 2007
Added detailed
list for RCAF AJ201 to AJ570, Venturas and Harvards. Many of
the Harvards lasted up to 1960, serving at flight schools and with the
auxiliary squadrons.
13
April 2007
Added a detailed list for RCAF owned, RAF style, serials up to
K8745. My web site goes global, with the new page being
uploaded from a hotel room in Kuopio, waiting for a Finnair flight to
Helsinki.
6
April 2007
Added a detailed list for the 21 Expeditors
renumbered by the Canadian Forces after Unification, CF 5179 to 5199. Data from all the
usual sources.
1
April 2007
Added the first page of post war RCAF
Expeditors, RCAF 1501 to 1548.
Much of this information came to light while helping Patrick Martin
research RCN Expeditors. Note that this page is only those serial
numbers that duplicated Second World War serials. Other post war
Expeditors are listed on the RCAF 4
digit serial pages.
20
March 2007
Added some more Bolingbroke Mk. IVTs, RCAF 10050 to 10099.
Data from all the usual sources.
10
March 2007
Added the next batch of Canadian built
Hurricanes, RCAF 5550 to 5599.
Most of these went to the RAF, and then on to Russia and other
allies. I haven't been able to match the RCAF and RAF serials, if
somebody out there can help, please contact me.
5
March 2007
Added a
detailed list for AE901 to AJ200, Venturas and Harvards received
from the RAF in North America.
1
March 2007
Added a detailed list for the Canadian Forces Dash 8s, the
Great Gonzos.
25
February 2007
Added a detailed list for RCAF post war serials 9101 to 9805.
Information on the Tanzanian Otters comes from Rankin-Lowe and
Cline's book, and several on-line Otter production lists, including Ian
Buters' Otter Pages.
Associated
updates to the post war serials
brief list, and the post war serials
main page.
21
February 2007
Added first detailed list for Bolingbroke Mk.
IVT, RCAF 10000 to 10049.
I continue to receive corrections and updates for all the pages, and
they are most welcome. For now, I will concentrate on filling in
missing detailed lists before I go back and correct existing
lists. If you have questions about an individual aircraft you can
always contact me at the link above.
17
February 2007
Added more Canadian built Hurricanes, RCAF 5500 to 5549.
Added the
CC-177 Globemaster III to the post-integration
main page. This designation is slightly speculative at this
time.
13
February 2007
Added a detailed list for RCAF AA100 to AE900, all
aircraft taken over from RAF schools in the BCATP when they merged into
the RCAF.
10
February 2007
Posted the next batch of Canadian built
Hurricanes, RCAF 5450 to 5499.
Information from all the usual
sources.
7
February 2007
Posted the last of the Air Cadet gliders, the C-G registrations.
6
February 2007
Posted the first of the Air Cadet gliders, the CF and C-F aircraft.
I have received an interesting e-mail from a reader, who claims there
are one or more individuals who collected large numbers of serial
plates from Canadian built Hurricanes when they were scrapped at the
end of the war. These name plates are now being sold, one by one,
and this may account for several recent Canadian built Hurricane
"restorations" we have seen. This sort of thing is fairly common
in the Warbirds movement, and is quite legal (although a little
confusing to the serious historian). See my
comments about "restored" Mustangs.
5
February 2007
The Air Cadet glider program yielded many more
aircraft than I expected. Here is the first page, the Air Cadet League powered aircraft.
The gliders should be listed in a few days.
The main
page for civil registered
government owned aircraft has been updated to place the Air Cadet
glider program in perspective. Also, the RCN
main page has been updated with a link to Patrick Martin's new
book, probably the ultimate resource on RCN aircraft.
20
January 2007
More detailed information on Canadian built Hurricanes 5400 to 5449
added.
I have two conflicting sources of company numbers of these Canada Car
built aircraft: British Air Commission records, provided by Mike
Taylor, and the civil register entries for the few aircraft that
survived and were registered after the war. I would love to hear
from anyone who can clear this up.
13
January 2007
Took a break from searching Transport
Canada data for Air Cadet aircraft, and posted some more information on
Canadian built Hurricanes, RCAF
5350 to 5399.
4
January 2007
I have
added lots of information to the Canadian Army L-19 page and
the Canadian Forces L-19 page. Most of
this came via Patrick Martin.
Let's see now, Patrick has already
written two excellent books on RCAF and CF aircraft, and is finishing
up an even better book on RCN aircraft. I wonder why he is
suddenly interested in Canadian Army aircraft?
The information on the subsequent Air Cadet careers of several of these
aircraft will soon appear on an Air Cadets page. About 60
aircraft identified so far: L-19s, Bellancas, and gliders. There
may be more to come.
23
December 2006
Added a detailed list for some post war
Dakotas, RCAF 10910 to 10918.
19
December 2006
As often
happens, I've received new information on one aircraft immediately
after publishing a web page. Thanks to Mike Taylor for bringing
to my attention that RAF records show a very different history
for RCAF 1357, a.k.a. RAF AG316 than my information, which comes from
the
RCAF Aircraft History Card for 1357 and Griffin's first book. See
the updated RCAF 1350 to 1399
detailed list. I can only assume that this is an error in RCAF
and/or RAF records, and that two different aircraft are involved.
As always, if anyone has additional information, I would love to hear
it.
17
December 2006
Updated my
list of civil registered aircraft in the G-CAxx
series. This page hase been moved to the Civil Registered page, which
received a major update on the early days of the Canadian flying clubs,
based on information received from Terry Judge.
15
December 2006
Updated RCAF 1350 to 1399,
with new Hurricane information and some extra Expeditor
information. Also updated the Project statistics.
9
December 2006
Continuing
to enter the Hurricane data received from a number of sources, and
updated RCAF 301 to 350, with
information on the first RCAF Hurricanes.
4
December 2006
Added a detailed list for the RCAF's Canadian
built Sea Hurricanes, BW835 to BW884.
I have recently received a large amount of Canadian Hurricane data,
from Tony Hancock, Mike Taylor, and others. I will be
updating my exisiting Hurricane entries soon. Now, back to
Patrick Martin's great new book.
29
November 2006
Added the last of the RCAF Cansos, RCAF 11051 to 11100.
I've been working on RCN information for Patrick Martin's new book, so
other projects have slowed considerably. This book will contain
far more information than my RCN pages, and I highly recommend it to
anyone with an interest in RCN aircraft.
5
November 2006
Added the next batch of Cansos, RCAF 11001 to 11050.
I was lucky enough to get a sneak peak at parts of Patrick Martin's upcoming book on
RCN aircraft this week. It looks great, and will make most of
my material look pretty lame. I strongly recommend this book to
anyone with an interest in the RCN, especially modellers. Look
for major upgrades of my RCN pages after this book is out.
28
October 2006
Added detailed
list for the CP-140 Aurora and Arcturus.
21
October 2006
Updated the
list of civil register aircraft operated by
the Canadian military, but owned by others, and added photos of the
CCF Maple Leaf and the Doman-Fleet helicopter. Much of the new
information came from the CAHS
published early Canadian civil registers. There are still many
more of these to come, I think.
20
October 2006
The next batch of RCAF Cansos, RCAF 9801 to 9844, including
a few post war Mk. 2s.
Corrected entry for Kittyhawk 1049,
thanks to the eagle-eyed readers at the RAF Commands forums.
13
October 2006
Keeping to a flying boat theme, added detailed page for RCAF Albatrosses
(Albatrii?). Since they retained their RCAF serials after
unification, there is a link to this page from both the RCAF 4 digit page, and the Canadian Forces page.
10
October 2006
Added the next batch of Cansos, all Boeing
Canada built, RCAF 9751 to 9800.
Information on the Brazilian post war history of some of these aircraft
came in a series of e-mails from Romulo Figueiredo in Rio de Janeiro.
30
September 2006
Added a detailed
list for the Auster Mk. VI and T. Mk. VII. Also added a list of terms and abbreviations., including
definitions of RCAF / CF damage catagories.
21
September 2006
Added a detailed list for the first batch of
Catalinas / Cansos built to RCAF order, RCAF 9701 to 9750.
Information from my usual sources, plus e-mails from Maarten Hartkamp,
and several postings on the RAF
Commands forum. Information on the aircraft diverted to
Australia came from the ADF
serials web site, and their information on the Netherlands East
Indies and early Indonesian aircaft by Jos Heyman. If you liked
Terry and the Pirates, you'll love the story of the Indonesian rebel
air force. Click on "NEI Aircraft" at the ADF serials home
page.
15
September 2006
Added two more detailed lists, of Menasco
Moths and Tiger Moths, RCAF
4900 to 4949 and RCAF 4950
to 4999.
7
September 2006
As promised,
detailed lists of RFC in Canada aircraft have been added, in part 1, part 2, part 3, and part 4. The information on
Canadian registered ex RFC/RAF aircraft has mostly come from the CAHS
published early Canadian civil registers. I am surprised at the
lack of information on the many Canucks that apparently flooded the US
market in 1919 and 1920. Can anyone point me towards details of
these aircraft?
5
September 2006
Some
revisions to the RFC in
Canada information. I'm in the process of adding more details
for individual RFC in Canada aircraft, and this should be ready in a
few days.
25 August 2006
Added detailed list for Canadian
Forces Challengers.
Information from Rankin-Lowe and Cline's book, Griffin's latest book,
Patrick Martin, and various civil registers and fleet lists.
Updated the detailed list of Canadian Forces Cormorants. Most of
the additional information comes from CF press releases and accident
reports. Also updated the aircraft
links page.
19 August 2006
Completed the postwar RCAF Mustangs, with the detailed list for RCAF 9551 to 9600.
5 August 2006
Next detailed list of RCAF Mustangs, 9251 to 9300. The
disclaimer about civil identities still applies.
28 July 2006
Added first detailed list for RCAF post war Mustangs, 9221 to 9250.
The subsequent civil identities of these aircraft can be somewhat
convoluted and murky, so completing the other Mustangs will take some
time. Please read the disclaimer on this page about these civil
histories.
23 July 2006
Updated the detailed list of CF Falcons, with
information on the fate of 117508 provided in an e-mail from Ernie Szelepcsenyi, and a new photo of
117507.
22 July 2006
Two new detailed lists, RCAF
4800 to 4849 and RCAF 4850
to 4899.
14 July 2006
Two more detailed lists of Finches added: RCAF 4700 to 4749 and RCAF 4750 to 4799. Also
added detailed lists for the Boeing 707 /
CC-137, and the CC-138 Twin Otter.
9 July 2006
Added a picture of Mitchell 891,
and information on No. 5 OTU Kittihawks to the detailed list for RCAF 801 to 900.
The Kittihawk information came in e-mails from Michael DesMazes.
.
7 July 2006
Two more detailed lists of Finches, RCAF 4600 to 4649 and RCAF 4650 to 4699 added.
Also added a detailed list for the CF Kiowas.
I'm constantly receiving corrections and additions to published pages,
and I really appreciate this. I've been focusing on completing
the
missing pages for now, and need to go back and update the existing ones
some day.
30 June 2006
Two more detailed list of RCAF Finches added, 4500 to 4549 and 4550 to 4599. Also added
a detailed list for RCAF
Hercules and CH-113s.
Updated the detailed list of Canadian Forces
CH-113s.
I have now identified 15 of these that received new serial
numbers. Most of the search and rescue anecdotes in both
CH-113 lists come from the excellent book "That Others May Live", by
The Para Rescue Association of Canada. This is a highly
entertaining and informative book, and I
strongly recommend it to anyone with an interest in Canadian military
aviation.
23 June 2006
Two more detailed lists added, of Tiger Moths and Finches: RCAF 4400 to 4449, and RCAF 4450 to 4499.
A note on the Finches: many of these aircraft went to civil
registers after the war, in Canada, the US, Mexico, and Iceland.
Unfortunately, I can't always match subsequent civil identities to the
RCAF serial number. Some of the information I can come up with
appears to be contradictory, as you can see. If anyone can share
a complete list of Fleet company numbers matched to RCAF serial
numbers, it would help immensely.
16 June 2006
Two more detailed lists of Tiger Moths, RCAF 4300 to 4349, and RCAF 4350 to 4399. Added
a detailed list for the Twin Huey.
Much of the information on Twin Hueys comes from Griffin's new book,
and Rankin-Lowe and Cline's book. Information on subsequent fates
of the Twin Hueys came from Alexis Antonakis at TASN, and Steve Rush at
Touchdown News.
11 June 2006
Another Tiger Moth detailed list added, RCAF 4250 to 4299.
Updated the list of USAF serials owned or controlled by Canada,
adding the YF-18 used as a structural test article, and the BOMARCs
listed in Rankin-Lowe and Cline's book. If anyone has serials for
BOMARC from 447 Squadron, please let me know.
1 June 2006
The Tiger Moths just go on and on and on.... RCAF 4150 to 4199, and 4200 to 4249 added.
27
May 2006
Added two more detailed lists of Tigerschmitts, RCAF 4050 to 4099, and RCAF 4100 to 4149.
26 May 2006
Added a detailed list for the Navy
HUP-3s.
I'm trying to complete the RCN section of my web pages. If there
are any Naval Aviators out there who would like to share any memories,
or the contents of their log books, please contact me at the link above.
21 May 2006
Added two new detailed lists, mostly Tiger Moths: RCAF 3950 to 3999, and RCAF 4000 to 4049.
Added information on the histories
of the CAF Dash Sevens after they were
sold.
I've created a Yahoo photo album, at http://ca.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/wtbalance/album?.dir=/b25fre2
, with photos taken by Thomas Granger's grandfather, while working as a
mechanic at the RFC Aircraft Repair Depot in Toronto in 1918.
5 May 2006
Added another detailed list of Tiger Moths, RCAF 3900 to 3949.
I missed some subsequent civil
histories in my last Tiger Moth list, RCAF 3850 to 3899, they have
been added.
I've received some fascinating photos of the RFC in Canada, taken by
Tom Granger's grandfather when he was a mechanic at the repair depot in
1918. I'll be sharing them with you as soon as I figure out the
best way.
29 April 2006
Added detailed lists for Canadian Forces
Hercules, and Dash 7s.
28 April 2006
Added the next RCAF detailed list, Tiger Moths 3850 to 3899.
21 and 22 April 2006
Added a detailed list for the Canadian Forces
Argus. Much of the information from Griffin's latest book,
and my personal notes. Also added detailed list for RCAF 3800 to 3849,
with data from all the usual sources.
Updated the lists for RAF owned aircraft,
up to Z9999. Most of this comes from Tony Wilson's extensive
research of RAF war time records. He's sent me bags more data,
but I can only process this so fast. Stay tuned for lots more WW2
information.
15 April 2006
Added detailed list for RCAF
3750 to 3799, more Harvard 2s.
14 April 2006
Had to polish up my detailed list of Canadian Forces
Sea Kings, after I discovered it was linked as a footnote from a very serious web
page.
I've added a graphic guest book to my main page, where you can stick a
pin in a map and let me know where you are. I know you're out
there, I can hear you clicking.
7 and 8 April 2006
Added a detailed list for RCAF
3700 to 3749.
Much of the Liberator information came from Carl Vincent's book,
"Canada's Wings 2". Also added detailed list for the RCN Sea Furies. Information came
from Pettipas' book.
31
March 2006
Added first information on
Grob 120A to postwar civil
registration page.
Busy at home, and on the road, so updates may be slow for a
while. Also having major issues with current employer, and may
have to let them go.
19 March 2006
Added detailed list for RCAF Vampire
Mk. IIIs. found two great photographs, so I've included them
both.
14 March 2006
Added the detailed list of RCAF
3650 to 3699, Forts and the first Otters.
12 March 2006
Added a detailed list for the Canadian Forces
Yukon.
If you have fond memories of the beauty and grace of the Yukon, like I
do, you may find their eventual fates a little sad. Also added a detailed page for the CH-143. This is
the one type in my lists where I can honestly say I have flown in every
one of the entire fleet.
9
March 2006
Added detailed lists for the Candian forces single seat CF-104s: 104700 to 104771, 104772 to 104832, and 104833 to 104900.
Also updated the CF dual CF-104 detailed list. Some
minor editorial updates on the RAF owned,
Canadian operated page, and added Grob 120A information to the Canadian owned, civil registered
page.
Much of my new CF-104 information comes from the book "Starfighter" by
David L. Bashow, and from Griffin's latest book.

Added a detailed list for RCAF
3600 to 3649.
26 February 2006
Added detailed lists for RCAF
3500 to 3549 and 3550 to
3599.
Found a great close up photo of
9205 in its final configuration, and added it to the RCAF Fortress detailed list.
20 February 2006
Added a detailed list for the CH-149.
Much of the initial information came from David Hastings's
EH101 web site.
18 February 2006
Detail list for RCAF 3450 to 3499
added.
Updated the detailed lists for RCAF 901 to 950, and 951 to 1000.
Most of the additions concern the subsequent fate of these aircraft on
the civil register, and come from the Canadian civil register books
by John A. Ellis, and numerous web sources.
10
February 2006
Some more detailed lists for Yales, RCAF 3350 to 3399, and RCAF 3400 to 3449. Also,
a somewhat preliminary detailed list
for the Sperwer. I know, some people think they're not "real"
airplanes, but they have serial numbers!
6 February 2006
Updated detailed list for RCAF 801 to 900,
with information from Tony Wilson, the book "Photographing Canada", and
the Warbirds Registry.
29 January 2006
Added detailed lists for RCAF
3250 to 3299, and 3300 to
3349.
27 January 2006
Created a detailed list for Canadian Forces
CF-104Ds.

on subsequent histories of these aircraft came from a number of web
sites, that can all be found at The Mother of All
F-104 Sites.
Updated the RCAF Chipmunks detailed list,
with information on aircraft used at No. 3 FTS at Claresholm.
Information came from an ex No. 3 FTS instructor, F/L Hugh Beaton, CD.

Harvards, 3200 to 3249. They go on for ever,
and this is just the Mk. IIs!
Corrected the brief list of RCN serials, and the RCN main page.
Added Some Firelfy Mk. V serials I had missed, and updated Firefly
squadron marking information. This information came from Leo
Pettipas' book on the Firelfy in RCN service.
14
January 2006
Added a detailed list for the CH-118
Iroquois.
Much of the information comes from "Canadian Military Aircraft,
Aircraft of the Canadian Armed Forces", by Griffin, Smith, and
Castle. By
the way, don't bother to order this book from Chapters. After a 4
month wait I canceled my order there, upon discovering that the good
people at Aviation World
literally had a stack of them.
Updated all the Chipmunk detailed lists, with information from
Griffin's new book, plus e-mails from several sources. There are
still a few gaps here, so any information you can share will be
appreciated.
6 January 2006
Updated detailed lists for RCAF 701 to 750, and 751 to 800, with information from
Tony Wilson. Also updated database statistics.
Additional information on Chipmunks is trickling in, and I will
probably update these pages next week.
Tony Wilson has also sent me a lot more information on RAFowned
aircraft operated by the RCAF in WW2, nearly doubling the number of
aircraft identified. Look for updates of these pages in the
coming weeks.
30 December 2005
Added detailed list for the RCAF
Chipmunks.
Updated the last Air Board
detailed page, C-GYXA to C-GYZZ.
Also, minor updates to the other two Chipmunk detailed pages, Canadian Forces Chipmunks and civil registered, DND owned, Chipmunks.
The Chipmunk lists are far from complete, and I would like to fill in
the blanks before the 60th anniversary of the first Chipmunk flight,
coming up this May. Please search your old log books, or your
relative's log books, for any information on Canadian Military
Chipmunks. I would like to know serial numbers, unit or base, and
dates, please.
23 December 2005
Updated detailed lists for RCAF 601 to 650, and 651 to 700.
Additional information came from Tony Wilson, and from the book
"Photographing Canada From Flying Canoes", by G. B. Shaw.
16 December 2005
Added three more detailed lists of Harvards, RCAF 3050 to 3099, 3100 to 3149, and 3150 to 3199.
10 December 2005
Added detailed list for the CF Falcons.
9 December 2005
Added new information to all the
CF-5 detailed lists, 116701
to 1167456, 116746 to
116789, and 116801 to

more detailed lists for Mk. II Harvards: RCAF 2900 to 2949, RCAF 2950 to 2999 and RCAF 3000 to 3049.
New main page for Civil registered aircraft owned
and leased by the Canadian military, and the first three detailed
lists. More still to come.

CAF main page. Thanks again to our Senior Designated UAV
Expert, Stephen
Priestley.

for Trackers: RCN part one, RCN part two, and the Canadian Forces.
11 November 2005, Remembrance Day
Three
more detailed lists of Harvards: RCAF
2750 to 2799, RCAF 2800 to
2849, and RCAF 2850 to 2899.
The search for linkable photos continues. I'm having good luck at
the Canadian
Aviation Museum Image Bank.
4 November 2005
Added
new detailed lists, for Harvards RCAF
2700 to 2749, and the
last of the RCAF Canucks: RCAF 18651 to 18700, RCAF 18701 to 18750, and RCAF 18751 to 18792.
I'm experimenting with adding links to pictures to some of my pages,
when I can find public domain pictures on the net (I don't have the
space to put many pictures on my own server). If anybody is
willing to let me link to their photos, especially of early aircraft, please let me know.
28 October 2005
Major expansion of the RCAF operated, RAF owned page.
I now have 3,500+ aircraft in this category, but I'm always looking for
more. I also have a lot more information on these aircraft (first
and last dates, RAF history, etc.) that will eventually show up
in the detailed lists. So many aircraft, so little time....
Also was able to add information on the CU-167 to the CAF page, thanks to a series of e-mails from
Stephen Priestley. Stephen is now our Designated UAV Expert.
22 October 2005
Added
detailed list for more Mk. II Harvards, RCAF 2650 to 2699.
20 October 2005
Added
another detailed list for Canucks, RCAF 18601 to18650.
8 October 2005
Added detail lists
for more Mk. II Harvards, 2600
to 2649. I've been on the road for a week, heading out for 2
more, so not much work on the web pages for the next little while.
30 September 2005
Added
detail lists for the first Mk. II Harvards, 2501 to 2549 and 2550 to 2599. Again,
most data from the book "Harvards!". Also added more Canucks, 18501 to 18550 and 18551 to 18600.
Updated brief list for RCAF 1001 to 4999.
25 September 2005
Added more information on
the RCN reserve squadrons to the RCN main page.
The keen eyed observer will note that the roundels shown on the top of
this page are RCAF style, with silver maple leafs, and not the
correct sugar maple leaf as actually used by the RCN.
Sorry, that's all I've got. The artwork came from www.rcaf.com, so what can you expect?
23 September 2005
Added
detailed lists for RCAF
2400 to 2449 and 2450 to
2499, plus more Canucks: 18401
to 18450 and 18451 to
18500.
Updated the detail list for RCAF 1300 to 1349,
with additional information on the Harvard Mk. Is. Most of this
information comes from the definitive book on Canadian Harvards, by
D.C. Fletcher
and D. MacPhail, called (what else?) "Harvards!".
16 September 2005
Added
detailed lists for RCAF 2300 to
2349, and 2350 to 2399,
mostly Canadian built Lysanders.
Minor clean up of the
main page.
Special note to
Netscape 8 users:
for some reason, my copy of Netscape 8 will occasionally not display
the graphics on these pages. When this happens, I can get the
pictures back by going to the "Tools" pulldown, then "Options...", and
toggling the rendering engine
mode between Firefox or IE. It doesn't matter what this mode is
set to, you just have to change it. Anybody got any suggestions?
11 September 2005
Added
detailed lists for RCAF
2200 to 2249, and 2250 to
2299.
10 September 2005
Added
detailed lists for more Canucks, RCAF 18301 to 18350, and 18351 to 18400. Also
added detailed list for Canadian
Forces Hawks.
Just
obtained a copy of "Photographing Canada from Flying Canoes", by Shaw,
so look for updates on the Air Board pages soon. Still waiting
for my copy of Griffin's new book, like a kid waiting for Christmas.
4 September 2005
Added detailed lists for RCAF
2150 to 2199 (more Venturas), and for RCAF 18201 to 18250 and 18251 to 18300 (more

Canada CF-100" and "Canucks Unlimited" by Bob Baglow.
26
August 2005
Added a detailed list for the Canadian Army Cessnas, RCAF 16701 to 16735.
Information from "Aircraft of the
Canadian Armed
Forces" by Rankin-Lowe and Cline, Griffin's first book, e-mails from
Patrick Martin, and my father's log books.
Revised detailed list for CAF Cosmopolitans.
20 August 2005
Updated detailed list for RCAF 1400 to 1449, with
information from www.timetravelair.com,
and from various e-mails. I've also checked these aircraft in
"Aircraft of the Canadian Armed Forces", and they give different
struck off dates for most of them. I will leave the dates I have,
From Griffin's first book, until I can see the RCAF records. By
the way, Griffin has a new book due out next month, the first in nearly
30 years! I can hardly wait.
19 August 2005
I have extended my list of CAF
T-Birds: it now includes a part one,
part two, and part three.
Most of the new information came from "Aircraft of the Canadian Armed
Forces", by Rankin-Lowe and Cline, and in e-mails from Patrick Martin,
Barrie MacLeod, Robert Thomson, and others.
Also updated detail list for RCAF
551 to 600, with information from Tony Wilson and from Joe
Bruagher's web pages.
12 August 2005
Added detailed lists for RCAF 1900
to 1949, 1950 to 1999, 2000 to 2049, and the six Flying Forts operated by the RCAF.
Updated detail list for RCAF 501 to 550,
with information from Tony Wilson. I think I've figured out why
some of my tables on the main pages are ragged in Explorer, and I'm
fixing them as time permits. Updated the
project statisitcs page.
7
August 2005
Added new numbers to RAF owned aircraft up to Z9999,
increasing from 130 aircraft to over 400. I think I have now
listed all the aircraft in this range currently available to me.
Now on to AA100 and up, where I expect to identify over 2,000 aircraft
(compared to the 400 or so currently posted) from the sources I have
identified. I have no way of knowing how complete either list
really is.
5 August 2005
Added detailed list for RCAF
1850 to 1899.
Updated detailed lists for RCAF 351 to 400, 401 to 450, and 451 to 500.
There is some confiusion in the various sources about previous and
subsequent serials for some of the RCAF Gooses (Geese?) For now,
I will list all available information, until I can clear this up.
Also updated the formatting and text on the RCAF 5 digit main page.
2 August 2005
Added detailed list for civil registered
aircraft used by Canadian military units, but not owned or leased by
the Canadian military. This list will probably grow in the
near future.
29 July 2005
Added detailed list for RCAF
1800 to 1849, and detailed list of US
owned aircraft loaned to the Canadian military. This is just
a start on this topic.
Updated detailed lists for RCAF 251 to 300, and RCAF 301 to 350. Updated
main pages to reflect all this.
24 July 2005
Added detailed lists for RCAF
1700 to 1749, and 1750 to
1799. Data from Griffin's book, and from Tony Wilson.
Also added a detailed list of civil
registered aircraft owned or leased by the military. Much of
this information came from "The Aircraft of the Canadian Armed Forces",
and from the Transport Canada database.
My main page reached 2,000 hits earlier this week, only 3 months after
reaching 1,000 (which took 11 months). Predicting this forward,
it appears my web pages
will completely take up the Internet's bandwidth by the year
2043. Stay tuned.
17 July 2005
Added detailed list for RCAF
1650 to 1699.
Updated detailed lists for CAF Dakotas and CO-119s (L-19s/L-182s). Data from the
usual suspects. I think I have listed all of these types that
were remarked.
15 July 2005
Two weeks
in a row without a road trip, and it's too hot to do much work
outside. The result is several additions and updates, plus
several more that are "almost there".
Added a detailed list for CAF Hillers, same
data sources as the Chipmunk page last week. Also added a detail
list for RCAF 1600 to 1649,
with data from Griffin's book, my notes, and from Tony Wilson.
Updated the detail list for RCAF 201 to 250.
Infromation from a range of sources, including Mark Huxtable and Tony
Wilson.
9 July 2005
Added a
detail list of Canadian Armed Forces
Chipmunks.
Basic aircraft data came from the book "The Aircraft of the Canadian
Armed Forces" by Rankin-Lowe and Cline. Information on the
subsequent civil identities of the Chipmunks came from Tony Wilson, and
from a 1976 hard copy of the Canadian civil registry.
I've added place markers on the main page for pages on civil registered
aircraft, both
Canadian owned and others, operated by Canadian military units.
I've found bits and pieces of information on these topics recently, and
will be adding them to the database.
3 July 2005
Added detail list for
RCAF 1550 to 1599.
Updated detail lists for G-CYGA to G-CYTZ, and for G-CYUA to G-CYWZ.
Information came from a number of sources, including de Havilland
production histories provided by Mark Huxtable. Also
updated the detail list for RCAF
1500 to 1549, with information on Lysander 1540, found on the
cenotaph in Fingal, Ontario.
24 June 2005
Detail list for RCAF 1500 to 1549.
detail list for RCAF 151 to 200.
I'll be on the road for a week or more, so there may not be many
changes for a while.

Added detail list for RCAF 1250 to 1299.
Updated detail list for RCAF 51 to 100.
27 May 2005
I'm
slowing down for a while, while I help Patrick Martin research
information for a new book (or two) he is working on, featuring the
aircraft of the RCN and the Canadian Army. If anyone has
unpublished photos they would like to share with Pat, he would love to
hear from you at patrickmartin@telus.net.
Added detailed lists
for RCAF 1150 to 1199 and RCAF 1200 to 1249.
Revised main pages to suit.
20 May 2005
Added detail list for
RCAF 1100 to 1149.
Revised detail list for G-CYDA to G-CYFZ.
I updated the project
statistics two weeks ago, but forgot to publish it until last
night. So many airplanes, so little time.

Added detail lists
for RCAF 1011 to 1049, and 1050 to 1099.
Revised 4 digit main page to match.
12 May 2005
Revised the RCAF postwar main page and RCAF postwar detail list,
with duplicate helicopter serial numbers moved from the RCAF 4 digit
page. Thanks to Tony Wilson for the groovy "update" and "new"
graphics

Updated
the C-GYAA to C-GYCZ detailed list,
with data from Alan Eyre and "Canadian Military Aircraft" by
Griffin. Updated RCAF 1 to 50
detailed list, with data from Tony Wilson and from Griffin's
book. Minor revisions to front pages to match this.
25 April 2005
Added
detailed list for RCAF serials
951 to 1000. Also added detailed list
for CAF L-19s and L-182s, and updated CAF
main page. Just taking a break from the front hall.
22 April 2005
Added a
front page for RAF owned aircraft, and
brief lists for RAF owned aircraft up
to Z9999, and AA100 and up.
I have just started to input the data I have collected and received on
this topic, so there are many updates to come. They may have to
wait a while. For now, my wife says that finishing painting the
front hall is more important than finishing the web pages. She
just doesn't understand.....
17 April 2005
Added a
list of RAF aircraft operated by the CAF in
the UK in 1918 to 1920, added link to this page on the beginning page.
I've received a ton of data on early RCAF aircraft from Tony Wilson in
Australia, all nicely formatted for databases. Together with data
from Alan Eyre, and a lot of my written notes that are finally going
into the database, I will be updating the Air Board and early RCAF
pages. I've also started entering data for the 400 series
squadrons overseas in WW2 - a huge job. Stay tuned!
8 April 2005
Updated
list of RNAS/RFC/RAF serial numbers up to
Z9999. Added this page to updated main
page for all RNAS/RFC/RAF serial numbers.
1 April 2005

the counter.
25 March 2005
Added
detailed list for RCAF 801 to 900.
Updated detailed list for CAF
Dakotas, with information from Joe Baugher's pages and from John
Howard.
20 March 2005
I'm bored
entering data and formatting list pages, so I decided to play with the
pages themselves. I've added roundel clip art from www.rcaf.com (thanks guys). I'll
be adding these to other pages, as they are updated.
18 March 2005
Added
brief lists for RCAF operated aircraft BA100 to FL999, and FM 100 and up. Updated RCN serials brief list, with more
Seafires identified.
11 March 2005
Added a front page for RAF style serials AA100 and up,
and the first brief list, AA100 to
AZ999.
There is still much data inputting to be done before the rest of the
brief and detailed lists are added. The motto of these pages is
becoming "so many airplanes, so little time".
4 March 2005
Updated
the database statistics on the
project page,
to show how I'm going to handle the large number of Canadian-operated
aircraft with serial numbers of other armed forces. I'm still
collecting this data, and it will be a while before it appears on the
web pages. I'm also running out of free space on my ISP's
server. I may have to break down and pay for more, or consider
some form of ads on the pages - only as a last resort!
25 February 2005
Added
brief lists for US serial numbered aircraft
owned by Canada, and RAF serialled
aircraft, up to Z9999, owned by Canada.
Please note that the RAF owned, Canadian operated aircraft used by the
400 series squadrons in WW2 are not included (yet). Added
complete brief report of RCN serials,
including ex US and RAF
serials. Editorial changes to RCN home page
and main page to reflect all this.
The day after doing all this, I received another great e-mail from Alan
Eyre, with more data that should have been in the RAF list. Be
patient, it will come!
10 February 2005
I've
created place holders on the main page
for pages listing non-Canadian serial numbers, to allow me to structure
the database. I may still change this structure, depending on how
I make out inputting data in the next few days (or weeks, or ...).
6 February 2005
Refined
text and formatting of The Project page,
and updated the database statistics.
I'm trying to figure out how to separate Canadian owned or operated
aircraft without Canadian serial numbers within my database, so I
can add them to these pages. This may take a while, so don't
expect many updates for the next few days or weeks.
4 February 2005
Added
detailed pages for RCAF Buffalos
and Canadian Armed Forces
Buffalos.
29 January 2005

to 750, and 751 to 800.

Updated
detailed lists for Air Board G-CYAA to
G-CYCZ, and G-CYDA to G-CYFZ,
with corrections and additions supplied by Alan Eyre.
I've received lots of data on BCATP aircraft from John Howard of
Stratford, Ontario, plus a big package of information on post war RCAF
Dakotas via Paddy Green of the UK. This will all take time to get
into these pages. Thanks to everyone for all this data.
15 January 2005
Added
detailed lists for RCAF 501 to 550,
551 to 600, 601 to 650, and 651 to 700.
13 January 2005
Clarified
and expanded my description of the new
numbering system introduced in 1970, based on input from one of the
masters of Canadian aeronumerology, Patrick Martin. I
am not worthy.....

Added
detailed lists for RCAF 301 to 350,
351 to 400, 401 to 450 and 451 to 500.

and 251 to 300.

corrections and text added to RCAF 1 to
1000 main page, and RCAF 1 to 50
detailed list page. Added detail lists for RCAF 51 to 100, 101 to 150, and 151 to 200. Added
information to RCAF 1 to 1000 brief
list.
